Apple have released iOS 7 beta 4 today to its developers.  Although the release should have come before now but perhaps due to the recent security breach in Apples Developers website the beta 4 took this long.

As always iOS 7 beta 4 can be downloaded directly to your phone by going to the Software Updates section on your phone via Settings menu.

New features and enhancements have been added to those previously seen in beta 3. These new features and enhancements should make iOS 7 even more desirable.

Below is the list of newly added features/enhancements.

1 Lock screen UI tweaked, no longer has confusing up arrow.

2. Call button in phone app, Answer/Decline buttons refreshed.

3. Animations are noticeably faster

4. Minor changes to Spotlight UI

5. New ‘completed uploads’ option in Notification Center.

6. In Messages, it now only shows the first letter of the last name of the person you’re chatting with.

16. Pin in Maps app now shows estimated driving time to location.

17. New ‘Dial Assist’ feature in Phone app

18. Filters now available in Camera app for iPhone 4S (iPhone 4?)

19. New Q&A section in Siri’s info sheet

Also, this new beta version makes it clear that iPhone 5S would have a finger print sensor. This deduction was made after seeing the biometric source code like the one shown below.

Things are getting pretty interesting and Apple seem to be making good progress in making sure that the next iPhone with improved camera, processor and finger print sensor, become  a smash and the best iPhone yet.

G Slate versus iPad

One by one challenger iPad emerged, ranging from Samsung Galaxy Tab, BlackBerry Playbook, to the last Hewlett-Packard PalmPad. However, in terms of visual display, on average the same. The difference is only found in the resolution and sharpness of images, which are influenced by the technology behind the screen.

But, assuming this will soon change. Since LG started to adopt the three-dimensional technology into the computer tablet. And, one thing is interesting, users do not require special glasses.

According to French website GPSandCo, source from LG has ensured that companies from South Korea was preparing for the G-Slate tablet that comes with a screen of 8.9 inches.

Tablet 3D without special glasses will be one of the many big stories in 2011. Besides Motorola, Nintendo will be used to create mass-market penetration with Nintendo 3DS. After that, consumers will start looking for other similar technologies.

What other interesting things from the G-Slate? According to the same report, it also can record images in 3D. Thus, users can capture important moments and play them back in 3D. For this one, Apple iPad has no rival LG again.

In addition, the G-Slate also buried a 1GHz processor, with Nvidia Tegra processor 2 and the micro USB port. What is already equipped with 4G connectivity? Still a secret. For any operating system, is still not certain. However, most likely LG will adopt the Android OS.

To rumored, LG tablet will be priced at only U.S. $ 299 (equivalent to Rp2, 7 million). The difference is very significant when juxtaposed with the price of the iPad or Galaxy Tab.

According to some observers, has been a while LG does not present a big surprise. But if all the rumors about the G-Slate is true, could be shot to LG hottest topic in the world of tablet computers.

For information, G-Slate is scheduled to be released at the end of the first quarter, or around March-April

AT T is selling HTC 8X VZW takes pre orders for it and Lumia 822

Windows Phone 8s race to the top in the US has officially started - the HTC Windows Phone 8X is available today from AT&T and is on pre-order from Verizon, who are also taking pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 822.

Verizon has exclusivity on some HTC 8X features - ita model supports wireless charging like its key opponent, the Nokia Lumia 920 for AT&T. The charging mat is sold separately. Verizons Windows Phone 8X also comes in exclusive colors - Black and Red.

The HTC Windows Phone 8X (16GB) from Verizon will set you back $200 if you sign a 2-year contract and $550 if you dont. Verizons web site notes that the HTC 8X will ship by November 13.

AT&T has the HTC 8X on sale already - $200 with 2-year contract, $550 without - and the carrier counters Verizons exclusive features with an exclusive 8GB version of the phone, which is $100 on contract and $450 off contract (note that the 8X doesn’t have a microSD card slot). AT&T has exclusive colors too - California Blue and Limelight.

Back to Verizon, the carrier will ship the Nokia Lumia 822 by November 13 and has priced it $200 with contract (2-years) and $450 SIM-free.

The GSM version of the phone - the Lumia 820 - is already on sale by AT&T, who undercut Verizons prices by $50 (both on and off contract). It has exclusivity on the Nokia flagship too, the Lumia 920, which also goes on sale today.

Yahoo begins rolling default secure search keeps Q1 2014 promise

Yahoo has started rolling out a secure search feature, ensuring searches done by users navigate through a secure server.

The change to default secure search, thought to be fairly recent, was not announced, but spotted by a user. Yahoo however has given confirmation of the change to MarketingLand.

The move is a part of a promise made by Yahoos CEO Marissa Mayer in November 2013, with a post titled "Our Commitment to Protecting Your Information" on the companys Tumblr page, a post that also assured users the firm never gave any data centre access to NSA or any other government agency.

The post further added that "There is nothing more important to us than protecting our users privacy. To that end, we recently announced that we will make Yahoo Mail even more secure by introducing https (SSL - Secure Sockets Layer) encryption with a 2048-bit key across our network by January 8, 2014." This presumably was rolled out, without any announcement.

The post also mentions that the firm will encrypt all information that moves between Yahoos data centres by the end of Q1 2014; offer users an option to encrypt all data flow to/from Yahoo by the end of Q1 2014, and work closely with its international Mail partners to ensure that Yahoo co-branded Mail accounts are https-enabled.

It has been understood that the switch to secure search has only been applied to Yahoos US website (yahoo.com) and not yet on any of the other major Yahoo properties, like Yahoo UK, Yahoo Germany, Yahoo France or Yahoo Japan. It uses https as the default for search. As noted by MarketingLand however, Yahoo has crucially missed out on a way to integrate referrer data with the new secure search, and this will automatically drop Yahoo from marketers rankings. Without referrer data or search terms, marketers will get traffic for their sites from Yahoo, but never know it came from there. Advertiser partners however, will get full referrer data.

Google on the other hand, when it rolled out its default secure search option, ensured referrer data without search terms was passed on to marketers, and search terms were on to advertisers. In this way, MarketingLand assesses that Yahoos secure search for now is more secure than Google, passing along less data, with Bing the least secure, simply because its secure search is an option, and not default. Once enabled though, Bing passes along no search terms or referrer data.
